Random story about how I decided to post again. I take quite a few surveys and get a solid amount of free stuff and cashola to make it worthwhile. This one survey just asked if I had a blog, and if so, what the URL was.

Hmmm. Well, technically yes, survey, I do have a blog. In fact, I have several. However, since I haven't updated any of them in well over 6 months, I'm not quite sure if that's what you're looking for, survey.

For amusement's sake, I decided to see if I could even log into this anymore. (Not that I'm giving excuses for this long dry spell, but if I was going to, the fact that I couldn't log in featured rather prominently). Lo and behold, I could log in!

A post-Christmas miracle!!

'Bout time.

This Christmas wasn't that much fun, folks. It was really hard and none of my family had an overabundance of Christmas spirit. Blasphemous or not, when Dad read the Christmas story, the only little baby I could think of was Luke. When we were all lined up on the stairs, with the video camera going, all I could think of was that I should be carrying my little brother down to suck on wrapping paper scraps, not his favorite stuffed toy (a two foot long caterpillar, if you're wondering). Instead, we had his picture and a candle for remembering him. *sigh*

I could be profane about how wrong all this is. I could wax eloquent about how I know Luke is with the Lord and how we all will see him again. I don't want to do either. I just miss the baby.

On Christmas Eve, we saw my dad's cousin's son. He was born 3 days after Luke was. I think that's the hardest part of him being gone - seeing other kids who get to live life, and knowing that my little brother never can. It's that he's never going to pick Cheerios up with two fingers, and rock like he's about to crawl or flail against the arms holding him or grow teeth or learn to talk or go eat fast food or talk about his projects and his cars and things like that. I don't know who Luke was going to be, and now I can't find out.

Hmmm.

Blessed be the name of the Lord

  1. 1) [insert anything remotely comforting here... i won't attempt to come up with the words because i know that, after awhile, all it sounds like from people is "blah blah blah" and you just want to play a game of whack-a-mole with their heads to shut them up... just know i'm praying for you guys.]

    2) please obtain a copy of the new steven curtis chapman cd. or i shall burn you one illegally.

    3) you must fill me in on your secrets to obtaining this so-called "free stuff and cashola". i'm poor and typically bored.

  2. 1) What Kerri said. If I was there I'd hug you, but that's about all I can do.

    2) Also Kerri's point 3. I do some surveys but hardly ever get any of the prizes.

    3) My RSS reader about blew up when it saw a new post from you. I don't think it knew how to react. Which reminds me, maybe I should go write something.

    4) You should probably hang out with Kerri.
